Mission u

Mission u is an opportunity to study current issues impacting society based on recent mission study topics. Mission u is open to members and non-members of United Methodist Women, children and youth.  Each Mission u event offers classes on topics covering three themes:

Mission Study Topics for 2017

  • Spiritual growth: A Covenantal Community
  • Geographic: The Missionary Conferences of the United Methodist Church
  • Issue study: Climate Justice
  • Youth & Children: The Missionary Conferences

What shall I expect?

At Mission u: Learning Together for Transformation of the World you grow in understanding of the mission of the church in the current world context. The studies give particular attention to the responsibilities of women in the fulfillment of the mission work of the church. It is recommended that you read the study books before you attend the sessions. Study books may be purchased through United Methodist Women Resources.

Mission u Events  include:

  • Worship & singing
  • Interest Groups around current issues
  • Officer training
  • Audiovisual presentations
  • Fellowship events

Mission u is conducted at the Mt. Wesley Conference Center, 610 Methodist Encampment Road, Kerrville, Texas 78028. The event is three days. Overnight accommodations are part of the registrations process. You may make specific requests for roommates. Meals are taken on campus in the Nutrition Center. Classes are on-site in various facilities and plenary sessions take place in the Clyde Byrd Worship Center. Because it is hot in July, we recommend light clothes and hats. The classrooms may be a bit cool so bring a sweater, shaw or big shirt.
